ABOUT ME
My name is Serena, and I'm the owner and operator of Atlas Foot Care! I'm a Registered Nurse with over a decade of clinical and teaching experience. My nursing career began in home care and case management, where I developed a deep appreciation for continuity of care, patient advocacy, and seeing the difference when clients could receive care in the comfort of their own homes. Over time, this work naturally evolved into a deep love for education. In 2014, I started work as an Educator, delivering and leading multiple education programs at a hospital. I also practice in Public Health as a Nurse Immunizer. Teaching is a passion that has allowed me to share my clinical expertise and knowledge with clients to empower them to make informed decisions about their care. My background also includes education in contemplative end-of-life care, which supports my work with palliative clients and families by emphasizing comfort, presence, and compassionate, person-centred care.

My interest in foot care began during my nursing training, but my professional path took several different directions before I was finally able to pursue this specialty. In 2025, I made the decision to transition into Advanced Foot Care practice.
I completed my Advanced Foot Care certification with NorQuest College, graduating with honours with distinction. Shortly after, I founded Atlas Foot Care to bring my values of compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centred care into focused foot care practice. You can learn more about our mission here.
Wanting more hands-on experience with complex client, I went on to complete an intensive five-day clinical mentorship with Monica Shepherd of Nursing Soles in Calgary which included Advanced Foot Care on clients with complex medical needs, including clients at The Mustard Seed. To further refine my practice, I completed advanced training in Onyfix, as well as training in ToeFx with Dr. Irit Van-Ham, the system's developer.
Foot care is a complex and evolving specialty, and I continue to pursue advanced education and training to remain current with new techniques and technologies and provide the highest level of care. I'm an active member of the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) & the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses (CAFCN). You can see my full list of certifications and courses below.
I believe that excellent foot care supports comfort, mobility, independence, and a better quality of life — and I am honoured to provide this care to clients of all ages.
